Except that this is a remake, everything is refreshing to the Kannada audience in this film. What one should feel great is that the No 1 of Kannada cinema Puneeth Rajakumar is accepting this kind of subject. Knowing that the role is diluted for him and attention diverts he has accepted this film ‘Hudugaru’ means he is on the scale of newer growth in his profession.

It is a pretty good subject on friendship. The friend in need is friend indeed is modulated here in ‘Hudugaru’. Giving life for friendship one has the right to ask for the purpose for which the friends have struggled. The gravity of asking and giving was more in Tamil ‘Nodidigal’ but here the matured actor and familiar persons have softened. All such power has come out from power star Puneeth Rajakumar.

The brilliance is not only handling of direction by K Madesh, Sathya Hegde cinematography marvelous tunes and almost the same lines translated from Tamil film by writer Guruprasad in Kannada gives very kicking moment for the audience. This is a family entertainer.

Prabhu, Chandru and Siddesh give their support to the love marriage of Sudhir and Sushma. Kidnapping Sushma the trio takes big risk. They are hit badly – Prabhu on his forehead just above the right eye, Siddesh becomes deaf, Chandru loses his right leg. What else the friendship can give!
But the lovers got married under dangerous circumstances break up. This is what hurts the Hudugaru. They kidnap again and make them realize.
Puneeth Rajakumar has very strong dialogues for him. The action feast is not available from him; there are no romantic moments too! Yogish is the pinch hitter in this film. It is a poised performance from Srinagara Kitty. Radhika Pandit is like a live wire in the beginning. Sadhu Kokila and Rangayana Raghu are tremendous.

Harikrishna has maintained the Shambo Shiva Shambo…Neralli Sanna…male and female version is too good. En Chandane….is well sung folk song.

There are a few song lines from Dr Rajakumar films - Yidhu Yaaru baredha Katheyu…., Kannanchina Yee Notadhe…..Kannalli Yeno Minchondu Kaditalla…, Nagalaradhe Alalaradhe….., Naniruvudhe Nimagaagi….and another from Shanker Nag film Ondhe Ondhu Asseyu….were lapped up by the fans.
