On a cool and breezy night the prestigious 9th Bengaluru International Film Festival was inaugurated by Karnataka chief minister in front of the power house Vidhana Soudha on Thursday.

The beauty of the night of 9th Biffes was the video mapping on the eight majestic pillars of Vidhana Soudha utilizing atop the statement ‘Sarkari Kelasa Devara Kelasa’ – Government job is Gods job. The part of Karnataka cultural heritage plus the beginning and growth of Indian cinema industry was very special. After the vote of thanks the eight minutes ‘Jeevaswara’ was also well derived.

Today the situation is different. We have so many actors and technicians.

The effort of the film makers should concentrate on the quality he stressed. When the demand to hold the inaugural in front of Vidhana Soudha there was no opposition, like that the valedictory of this festival will be held in front of Mysuru Palace.

The chief minister pointing what was given in his regime to the Kannada filmdom said it is Vanijya Mandali that should look after for quality films.

Drawing his attention on Kannadigas he said they should cultivate love for language and see Kannada films. I would not say they should decry any language. Kannada films should be given prominence by multiplexes. I would sit and decide on the ticket price structure promised the Karnataka chief minister.

Let us all jointly make before 100 years of Kannada cinema a complete Kannada film land he called upon and earned applaud.

Power star Puneeth Rajakumar representing artists’ fraternity remembered his childhood days of attending film festivals after Bettada Hoovu. He had attended seven festivals with that film. This kind of festival is essential because we get to know so many things from so many countries films. Kannada cinema industry has grown good. In this festival there are 40 films to watch. Looking at various films we go on learning he pointed.

Earlier to Karnataka chief minister address, KCA Chairman SV Rajendra Singh and KFCC President Sa Ra Govindu put down the needs for improvement of the Kannada films and industry.

Legislative council chairman Shankara Murthy released souvenir on this occasion. Egyptian film maker Hala Khalil expressed her satisfaction coming to India. She feels at home. She explained the 2011 revolution dealt in her film ‘Novara’.

Kannada and culture minister Umasri, Urban development minister KJ George, Munirathna MLA and KFPA President and others were present on the dais.

Suhasini Manirathnam and Ramesh Aravind conducted the two hours event with ease. Suhasini Manirathnam remembered the first film shoot held near Vidhana Soudha and the effervescent Ramesh Aravind remembering all the festival of the country compared it to the cinema industry was impeccable.
