‘Baana’ Kannada film is surely going to appear the pages of Guinness Book of World Records for its contents and making. Srinivasulu J the producer and director of this film with no characters and only dialogues and major action portion on road in the cinema ‘Baana’ has sent the subject for the Guinness World Record committee.
In the two hours film ‘Baana’ one hour and 40 minutes will be on National High Way of Bagepalli (one side of the road under construction helped the crew). The camera does the wonderful trick and all characters are avoided. Only from the dialogues and movement of the camera even a child can understand this cinema very well says Srinivasulu.
For the first time he has used the Wiper Camera for 18 days of shoot paying Rs.28000 as rent per day. The re-recording for this film has taken two months as the sound engineer wanted live sounds he had to move to the various locations to capture it and add it to the film.
Technically this movie is great says Srinivasulu. Sachidanand and Umesh have done the work behind the top class camera. The audience would recognize the hero, villain and heroine but they will not get to see on screen. For 12 seconds bedroom dialogue the censor applied scissors and everything is realistic in the film. Four cars and one truck got damaged while shooting for this film and the film is made in Rs.60 lakhs budget.
Another high point of ‘Baana’ is that the Kannada film will be dubbed in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi and English languages. The delay in this last year June started film is because the producer Srinivasulu wants to release the film simultaneously in all the six languages. MS Maruthi has scored the music, Shanker Babu has penned the dialogues and assisted in direction. Sound Effects are by Venkat. The story, screenplay, editing, production and direction are handled by J Srinivasulu.
A student of SJP cameraman Sachidanand prior to shooting went to the locations and identified the spots because camera is the real hero of this film. The Wiper Camera that cost Rs.4.5 crores was taken on hire from Digi Quest Hyderabad. The beauty of this camera is that for 10 minutes the shooting is possible without intervention and separate disc has to be added after that. This is a camera that does not call for raw stock and the discs loaded with the film would be very fine for UFO and Cube satellite transmission of the film says Sachidanand. The color correction is another advantage that can be done with base light software he adds.
Kannada cinema industry with losses at the box office on the one side is growing fantastic with technology usage. Hip Hip Hurray!
