On 7th of September the popular theatre, TV and cinema actor Siddaraja Kalyankar celebrated his 60th birthday on the sets of ‘Prema Loka’ TV serial. It is in this TV Serial 7th September birthday boy Vijay Soorya also cut the cake. Both felt happy for sharing the birthday on the same day.
What was most unfortunate is that the 60 years talented actor Siddaraja Kalyankar died the next day after vomiting blood. He received a massive heart attack it was told.
Siddaraja Kalyankar was known for his decent roles and his voice was the major trump card in all his works. Although he made a cop role in ‘Pathita Pavani’ in 1971 he was reintroduced to Kannada cinema ‘Bhumi Geetha’ in 1997 by director Kesari Haravu – a film by Jaggesh brother in law Made Gowda – this film was critically acclaimed. In 1993 Siddaraja Kalyankar came to the small screen from B Suresha ‘Hosa Hejje’ TV serial. B Suresha invited Siddaraja Kalyankar after watching him on stage in the play ‘Athensina Arthavantha’.
Siddaraja Kalyankar acted in over 75 films in his three decades of stint in cinema. Some of his recent notable films are ‘Brahma, Naragunda Bhandaya, Navarathna, Kanneri, Kalbetta Darodekoraru, Ondu Sanna Brek Nantara, Apple Cake, TAB, Banavasi, Mrugashira, Paru Wife of Devadas, Jataayu and others.
Siddaraj Kalyankar hailing from Hubbali leaves behind his wife and two sons. He was brought to Hubballi for final rites.
