Another prominent Mysorean after departure of K.S.Ashwath and prior to it Dr Vishnuvardhana – KM Rathnakar the unforgettable comedian died on Tuesday at Mission Hospital after prolonged illness – breathing problem and kidney failure.
The body of 300 plus films comedy actor Rathnakar was shifted to his house in Mysore for paying last respect to the actor. The Kannada film industry personnel visited Mysore to offer prayers. Challenging star Darshan was in Mysore and he was the first to pay respects to Rathnakar.
The 79 years old bony Rathnakar was known for his typical voice and who can forget his film ‘Guru Shishyaru’ where he was with other leading comedians of Kannada cinema.
Rathnakar entered the theatre field with the help of Dikki Madhava Rao at the age of 13 and became an actor in ‘Vichitra Prapachancha’ that had the poems of Da Ra Bendre.
What is notable in Rathnakar was his ability in direction, music, stage preparation and script work. He has given voice for various audio albums to eke out living.
Born in Kollur for Manjunatha and Nagavenamma this short build Rathnakar acted in films like Ohileshwara, Dashavathara, Bhakta Kanakadasa, Bhagya Devathe, Bhandavya, Shaniprabhava, Bhaktha Kanakadasa, Nanda Deepa, Veera Kesari, Katari Veera, Kanya Rathna, Karulina Kare, Guru Shishyaru, Bhagya Devathe, Shani Prabhava, Guru Shishyaru and others.
