The Karnataka state government has decided on the state award committee and Subsidy committee for 2008-2009.
Noted director of nearly 49 films H.R.Bhargava heads the state award committee that look in to 74 films in the contest for awards. Senior Journalist Babu Dinakar, directors KV Raju and D Rajendra Babu, singer Bhanandur Kempaiah, senior actor Rajesh who is also BJP member, veteran cameraman BS Basavaraj and theatre personality Sujatha plus Information director as secretary are in the state awards committee for 2008-2009.
Golden star Ganesh who missed the state award for ‘Mungaru Male’ that went to Vijay for ‘Dhuniya’ performance for 2006-2007 has the bright chances this time because his three films – Sangama, Aramane and Circus are among the 74 films.
Among the heroines from Kannada Nadu – Shruthi for ‘Akka Thangi’, Supritha of Ambari, Ramya of Mussanje Mathu, Anitha Bhat of Psycho, Aindrita Ray of Junglee, Varsha of Navagraha, Radhika Pandit of Moggina Manasu and Sharmila Mandre of Venkata in Sankata, Amoolya of ‘Chaitrada Chandrama’ are sure to attract the attention for awards.
Puneeth Rajakumar ‘Vamshi’, Sudeep’s ‘Musanje Mathu’, director Arjun’s ‘Ambari’ that ran for 100 days, Darshan’s ‘Navagraha’, Vijay’s ‘Junglee’, Ajay’s ‘Taj Mahal’, Prajwal’s ‘Gange Baare Thunge Baare’ Golden star Ganesh Sangama, Aramane and Circus, Shashank’s ‘Moggina Manasu’ (that has already bagged five film fare awards) Ramesh Aravind ‘Venkata in Sankata’ are notable hero’s films. Musical hit ‘Psycho’,

The 2008-2009 state award team members have to look into 74 films that is highest so far in the history of state film awards the further hectic situation is for the Subsidy committee headed by veteran director and lyricist C.V.Shivashanker.
In the Subsidy committee to Kannada films there are 101 films applied so far for 2008-2009. With C.V.Shivashanker heading the state subsidy committee the other members are KV Gupta, HMK Murthy, Prof SG Siddaramaiah, HR Madhusoodhan Reddy, actress BV Radha, Journalist Dr Poornima plus Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy Chairman and Director of Information.
The 2008-2009 subsidy committee decides on 50 quality Kannada films that would get subsidy of Rs.10 lakhs,
