The famous Prasad Recording Studio situated at Sri Kanteerava Studio edge behind Dr Rajakumar Memorial is now shifted completely to Prasad Lab situated nearby with all facilities in working condition.
Prasad Recording Studio lease period (of 25 years) came to an end at Sri Kanteerava Studio sometime back. The fresh demand for lease and further push up apparatus with Animation technology was in the mind of Prasad Recording Theatre. The offer was turned down by government of Karnataka. The lease for 30 years was sought says the sources.
Now Prasad Recording Studio moving its equipments to Prasad Lab situated on nearly two acres of land is boasting of good acoustics and working conditions are supreme. Nearly 15 employees are working at Prasad lab after Prasad Recording Studio shifting to this place.
It is at this Prasad Lab there is a preview theatre and all cinema related activities are taking place in this digital era.
At the Prasad Lab there are three floors utilized for keeping nearly 4000 films of Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and other languages prints. The prints are from 1982 says the sources. There are nearly 500 plus Kannada films that completed a few reels of shooting in those days and never looked back again. They are unclaimed film feels that are left in the middle by Kannada Producers. Some of the prints of Kannada films are taken from here for digital format with proper procedure. The processing labs at this Prasad Lab are not functioning with the change of time and technology.
At this Prasad are LV Prasad Film and TV Academy. Short term courses, digital film making, direction for films and TV, digital cinematography is conducted in this building with experts. There is a home magazine too brought out by Prasad Lab.
