In the land of no ‘Rajakumara’ meaning Dr.Rajakumar can anyone be called ‘Naane Rajakumar’? ETV Kannada in association with Air Tel in gobbling revenue via Miditech corporate house is conducting a competition to the best mimicry or aping general public of the film scenes Dr.Rajakumr enacted from his 200 films.

When the people of state know Dr.Rajakumar as Mayoora, Sri Rama, Krishna, Babruvahana, Arjuna, Hiranyakashipu, Venkateshwara, Krishnadevaraya, Bhaktha Kanakadasa, Sri Raghavendra Swamy, singer, philosopher, man with Gandian principles who is known for highest simplicity throughout his life here is a not convincing attempt to bring out ‘Annavru’.

The concept of tracing the ‘Annavru’ qualities should not be through his roles mimicry but by adopting the principles of Rajanna. Giving substandard qualities the height of this Karnataka Rathna, Padma Bhushana, Natasarvabowma should not be belittled.

Mainly crowing anyone in this state as ‘Naane Rajakumar’ is not the fitting tribute to the unforgettable Rajanna.

The Air Tel ‘Naane Rajkumar’ is aired in ETV on every Saturday and Sunday at 8.30 pm. From the 48 persons who applied for the contest 16 are in the round two. The final one will not get any cash reward or a house to live. Veteran KSL Swamee and actress Jayanthi are in the final selection as judges of this program conceived by writer cum director Prakash Belawadi.

Thank god the aspirants for the crown are given costume, given training to emote Rajanna style. There is nothing like Original!
