Among the current crop of female playback singers the most familiar and popular Shreya Goshal is nearing century in Kannada. She has traveled from ‘Paris Pranaya’ to ‘Manasaare’ Kannada films winning the hearts of millions and working in many of the music directors of Kannada cinema.
A beautiful looking and very pleasant singer Shreya Goshal was traced by the Kannada film media at Rockline Venkatesh ‘Manasaare’ audio release function at The Innovative film City.
We give you excerpts of 15 minutes chat with Shreya Goshal on the rainy afternoon:
I am comfortable as a singer and there are many good looking than me to appear on the screen.
Among all the languages I have sung the Malayalam language is tongue twisting I am not too comfortable.
I have won the state award in Tamil Nadu. The audiences consider me as a Tamilian and phone up to talk to me in Tamil. That was a ticklish moment for me.
I am a Bengali and I have enjoyed all the Kannada songs I have sung so far. I get demand for Kannada songs to sing even in my home town.
I agree to the state government policy that state award should be given to singers who are from that language.
I do not sing for any awards. Like wise I do not make selection of songs. The music directors come to me with so and so particular song.
Of all the scratch or track songs I have heard I could not say not say no I am not singing for this beautiful voice. All of them were not up to the mark. In Telugu I have found in one case the voice sung in the track was so immaculate. I did not sing for that voice.
I write the lyrics in Hindi and sometimes in English to come before the mike to record. Give concentration to notations and observe the words sung by track singer.
I am professional and I charge that fee for songs. I cannot divulge how much I charge but maintained a uniform price for all languages.
I am interested in non filmy album but I have to cope up with the language completely.
