`BADDI BANGARAMMA` UMA SHIVAKUMAR DEAD

In less than a week this is the third death case in Kannada filmdom. It was ‘Neralu’ director Vinod Khanadalli on last Friday in Belgaum, Kunigal Nagabhushan, veteran dialogue writer and actor on Sunday morning and today 25th morning around 4 am it is the sad end of noted character artist Uma Shivakumar.

Uma Shivakumar shifted to Serpentine Road at Kumara Park West was often going to USA and the lung condition becoming bad and diabetic problem added to it was moved to Vikram Hospital. From ICU she was shifted to general ward after three days of thorough check up. She breathed her last on Tuesday early morning.

Uma Shivakumar husband Shivakumar, son Harsha and daughter were at the hospital when the sudden demise happened.

The era of Uma Shivakumar picked up after Rama Devi slowed down in ‘hot tempered’ roles. Beginning at Dr Girish Karnad troupe in early 1970, Uma Shivakumar was seen in the camp of BV Karanth, CR Simha and others theatre groups in the early stages.

It was in ‘Vamshavruksha’ in 1972 she made debut. The film also starred Kumar alias Vishnuvardhana in later days. That was a small role for Vishnuvardhana in the film.

Known as ultra modern lady Uma Shivakumar blessed with a boy and girl settled down with children in USA for a long time. She is recognized not only as an actress but as ‘Beauty Parlor College’ founder.

One of the high tech beauty parlor in Bangalore commenced in the aegis of actress Uma Shivakumar in 90. She owned 3 beauty parlors in Bangalore. The lavish beauty parlor of Uma Shivakumar was talk of the town in those days. Understanding the need of beauty conscience in female she opened up a college with one year certificate course. It was at this college noted actor Srininivasamurthy wife was also a student.

An up to date lady Uma Shivakumar never made her life unpleasant and lead a happy life throughout. The films like Haavina Hede with Dr Rajakumar, Baddi Bangaramma, Kesarina Kamala, Premayana, Gaali Mathu,  Singapuradalli Rajakulla, Tony, Bhakta Siriyala, Nee Bareda Kadambari, Chitegu Chinthe, Kaadu, Bara and others.

Uma Shivakumar did enjoy her life and also looked at the orphans in the society. She had taken care of so many orphans with food, education and employment.
