CINEMA HALLS TO OPEN FROM OCT 1, 2020

Here is pretty good news for the film fraternity. The theatres all over shut from Lock down in the third week of March 2020, are now allowed to open from October 1.

As for Karnataka is concerned the theatres were closed from 14th of March, 2020 after Corona pandemic spread and now roughly after 195 days (March 17 days, April, May, June, July, August and September months). That means more than half of the year is shut down for the cinema industry.

The announcement re-opening of theatres was confirmed by KFCC President Jayaraj on Wednesday morning. It was on Tuesday all the Film Chambers Presidents held a zoom meeting with Mr Amit Shah.

Finally the permission was granted to re-open the theatres with effect from October 1. In the last 195 days all over India theatres – single screens and multiplex closing down has resulted in thousands of crores losses to the entertainment industry.

The film shooting permission was granted a month ago. The shooting of half completed films and TV serials were permitted even before that.

The central government announcement of theatres to reopen from 1st of October is a big relief for lakhs of cinema workers, exhibitors, artists, technicians, producers and others in this sub continent.

Of course for the reopening of theatres – the guidelines will come from the central government in the second week of this month.
