One of the legends of journalism, Kannada movement ‘Gokak Chaluvali’ in 1982 Patil Puttappa passed away on Monday night for his age old problems at KIMS, Hubbali. He was born on January 14, 1919

The revolutionary thinker founder of Vishwavani, Prapancha Kannada newspapers, Patil Puttappa was stormy petrel too when in justice was done to Kannada language. A literary genius too Pa Pu headed the Kannada Sahitya Sammelana and highest award Nadoja award was bestowed on him.

Patil Puttappa was one of the key persons to inspire and invite Dr Rajakumar to enter Gokak Chaluvali in 1982 and the entry of Kannada matinee idol Dr Rajakumar given a major push to the moment Gokak Chaluvali that was on primacy to Kannada language.

Kannada Rajyotsava award, Hampi Kannada University Nadoja award, TSR award, honorary doctorate etc followed him.

A legend in journalism Patil Puttappa demise is a big loss to the Karnataka state. May his soul rest in peace.
