It was a day to remember for three decades old Kannada Film Directors Association (KANFIDA) on Sunday. Adjacent to Terige Bhavan in Nagarabhavi, the new office of KANFIDA was inaugurated by Upendra and Ramesh Aravind and at the ‘Terige Bhavan’ it was a house full event – in fact it is for this ‘House Full’ attendance in the theatres every director toils day and night.

The veteran Padmasri Dr Girish Kasaravalli released the first calendar of KANFIDA, SK Bhagwan of 86 years age director released Dairy of 2019 and later Kichcha Sudeep joined for release of Dairy. Renuka Sharma another veteran released the website kanfida.com while the new training classes were also part of the inauguration in the leadership of Dr V Nagendra Prasad.

It was a day to remember some good speeches from SV Rajendra Singh Babu, Upendra, Ramesh Aravind, Dr V Nagendra Prasad.

Releasing calendar of 2019 Dr Girish Kasaravalli went on a flashback, SV Rajendra Singh Babu national acclaimed director urging for the tradition of KANFIDA to continue remembered that it is he who first sows the seeds for KANFIDA and first meeting was held with Puttanna Kanagal, N Lakshminarayan at Woodlands Hotel. Singh Babu in his Hindi film direction for a small problem got support from Hindi film directors and that was the reason for him to launch KANFIDA.

Ramesh Aravind said it is ‘Take’ that is so important of a director – it is what watched by the people of Karnataka and this ‘Take’ is representative of people. Please don’t take it light stated to the four hundred members of KANFIDA.

Vijayalakshmi Singh felt it is like Habba to join with colleagues, Roopa Iyer lauded the effort and even the assistant and associates are also part of this association.

Singh Babu happy for the ‘House Full’ of Terige Bhavan said it is time we make our own roof and the team should get right support from chief minister HD Kumaraswamy. Singh Babu also recalled what LV Prasad had told when he had come to one of the functions of KANFIDA. Director association award is more important for me compared to Phalke award Prasadji had mentioned.

Dr V Nagendra Prasad promised that he would get down only after making a building for KANFIDA. I would take all suggestions in the conduct of KANFIDA he pointed. Becoming member is helpful for him or her. It is not for KANFIDA Prasad pointed on the significance of becoming a member.

The most awaited speech of Upendra was filled with good advice. A director should not go behind anyone. All should come behind him. A director should get double the payment of a hero and show his caliber. There is no need for anyone to help a director. All should become star makers. Today making a cinema and reaching is easy. The difficulty is in making a good script. I would request SK Bhagwanji to make 20 more films. The art has great strength; we should go on winning he mentioned. A few lines of his film dialogue were also part of Upendra address.

Sadhu Kokila, Joe Simon and others spoke on this occasion. Kaviraj conducted the event, TN Nagesh and colleagues were busy in the procedures of the event. Murali Mohan commenced the event with a Ganesha Shloka. The flower petals were offered on the portrait of SR Puttanna Kanagal.
