The Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy under the leadership of Suneel Puranik is going digital and chalked up various programs for the coming days.

KCA evolved in 2009 took up a few programs in the first chairmanship of TS Nagabharana. But the digitalization of films and cinema related documents in 1 crore of rupees funded by BDA got delayed. Now in the young and enterprising nature of Suneel Puranik the work has commenced.

The Kannada Chalanachitra Bhandara is the main topic as of now. The sanction of Rs.1 crore was made in June 2011 by BDA.

The Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy ‘BDA Chalanachitra Bhandara’ is evolved now in the new Nandini Layout Amruthotsava Building. The final approval has come even from the Karnataka Information Department.

A committee has been set up for this ‘Chalanachitra Bhandara’ – N Vidyashanker, Suresh Moona, Muralidhar Khajane, Arun Sagar, Ashok Kashyap are the members of this ‘Bhandara’

The effort to make a replica of Pune film institute and Mumbai Bharatiya Chalanachitra Bhandara is looked at in the meeting of the committee.

The effort to preserve world best films in this Chalanachitra Bhandara in digital format is one of the major tasks besides preserving all necessary documents related to cinema. For this new step KCA has invited the public for the collection of data. In addition to such useful data collection the research work is also supported by this KCA Bhandara.
