Successful industrialist M Bhakthavatsala who brought professionalism to Kannada cinema industry via Sharada Movies and Pictures is also known for distribution and production.

Born in 1937 M Bhakthavatsala made debut as co producer in 1971 from ‘Sapoorna Ramayana’. The film got dubbed to Telugu. His first Kannada film was starring Ananthnag, Amol Palekar and Shabana Azmi ‘Kanneshwara Rama’. He was President of KFCC for eight years. He changed the outlook of Apex Body with his brilliance. He was in to Film Federation of India and South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce. He was also heading the Regional Censor Board for quite some time.  He owned the famous Minerva, Lavanya in Bengaluru and Lakshmi theatre in Mysuru.

Writing columns, traveling, research, mountaineering are some of his hobbies. He has acted in one Kannada cinema ‘Chanda Marutha’.

No doubt that Kannada cinema industry has lost a brainy person. May his soul rest in Peace!
