A long time assistant director in the camp of late PN Sathya, Ram Teja with his experience and knowledge could easily get into independent direction of a film. But he has selected what sells quickly – web series.

The new web series debut direction of Ram Teja is mounting soon. It is Psycho, a 20 minutes first series with six episodes. This is the right proposition because of the marketing aspects in mind, says Ram Teja. There is a good generation of returns when the product offered is very attractive for the OTT platforms he observes.

Of course Web Series is a major competitor to films and especially in the lock down situation of 100 plus days OTT platforms have made a ruling.

The web series culture in Kannada began from ‘Loose Connections’ of RJ Pradeepa production. Today Dr Shivarajakumar production house is also into web series.

15 years of experience from ‘Gooli’ Kannada film time, Ram Teja has studied the psycho nature and also read in a few places to get contents for his web series. He has finished the writing part of his work. After lockdown is lifted he is going on floors.

Amith a handsome actor in small screen and director ‘Hawala’ Kannada film is doing the lead role in ‘Psycho’. Amith got familiarity from TV serials like ‘Agni Nakshatra’.

What about the business in OTT platform for this kind of product? It is 60 for producers and 40 for OTT operators, say Ram Teja. Giving good quality and attractive narration is the first winning point he has understood.
