Who says the government film awards functions are not filled with glamour, glitz and entertainment? Forgetting a few flaws in arrangement of such huge awards evening at a far of place from Bangalore city the over all event of 2007-2008 Karnataka state film awards evening that also honored the 54 and 55 year national award winner was decent and delectable.

The huge dais of 120x80 feet at a good height was the main attraction. The hundreds of dancers danced on this stage was a memorable for mammoth attendance in the home town of Karnataka chief minister Dr BS Yediyurappa. His son BY Raghavendra the LS member was also present doing the honors.

It was a good attendance too from the Kannada film industry. The government of Karnataka besides giving so much of relief to the Kannada films also invested Rs.50 lakhs on the event according to information director Vishukumar. He wanted the entire program to be further tidy and good.

The Karnataka chief minister announcing the life time achievement to be in the name of Dr Vishnuvardhana and best supporting actor to be given away from next year in the name of Dr KS Ashwath was timely. Something in the name of Dr C Ashwath should have come out at this stage made a good announcement from Dr BSY.

The Piracy Act sent for President Approval and call for 70’s golden era of Kannada cinema from Dr BSY was well thought out but the practical approach the industry should give to such call.

The information minister preferring to hold the event of state film awards on Ugadi day was turned down by KFCC President Dr Jayamala. She suggested not holding the event on Ugadi festival day.

Dr Girish Kasaravalli at his home town receiving award for the second time at this place made a pertinent speech. The relief of the government is not rightly used he mentioned. Remembering playing Kabbaddi, badminton and hearing to socialist Lohia speeches at this ground Dr Girish is of the opinion the state government is like ‘Kamadhenu’ to Kannada film industry. He wished the education in cinema or cinema on education is right way to adopt.

The song of the state Jayabharatha Jananiya…..with 55 plus singers on stage was a treat to watch. Bharisu Kannada Dindima…..thrilled and Elladaru Iru Endendu Nee Kannada Vagiru….made everyone proud at this moment. There was clipping of 75 years of Kannada cinema on the screen at the center of the stage.

Haadu Santoshakke from Vijaya Raghavendra and Bhavana Rao gave a kick start to the cultural event. Yagna Shetty, Pragna and dancers Doora Swalpa doora, Diganth’s Ello Maleyagidhe….., Puneeth Rajakumar for Bindhaas and Hosa Gana Bajana….song with Neethu, Sudeep two songs Ura Kannu Yara Kannu…..and Dov Dov Davvu Maga Ranga barthavne side Hogu, Yash for Rocky film song, Bhavana for Hoo Manasa Jokali and Madhubana Karadere….. was the best, Shimoga Subbanna, Shimoga Yuvaraj, Yogish on Jinke Marina and other mixture songs treated the audience.
