UNCLE LOKANATH ERA ENDS

On the last day of 2018 a stalwart, humble, simple and intelligent actor Lokanath CH passes away due to old age. He was not keeping well for one week and on his son arrival from foreign he recouped but destiny had something else in store. Lokanath was born in Cubbonpete in 1929. Basavanagudi was his favorite spot and all major developments in his life took place when he lived in Basavanagudi.

He was from the family of business. He studied engineering. Very orthodox family – he went to hotel at the age of 38. He lost his way boarding a train in 1953 and since then he was averse to train journey. He was goalkeeper of hockey, football, cricket and wrestling. He joined KV Iyer gym and did work out for 25 years. He was known for picking quarrels and straight away hitting at anyone. It was TP Kailasam who told him why you are not trying in films in those days.

The death of CH Lokanath, Uppinakayi Uncle came as big shock to the Kannada cinema industry that is not yet recouped from Dr Ambarish death on November 24.

The formalities of CH Lokanath demise were held at his residence in the morning and around 12 noon his body was placed for public darshan at Ravindra Kalakshetra premises. The cremation took place at Banashankeri crematorium in the evening.

Uncle Lokanath also called as Uppinakaayi Uncle coming from theatre such as ‘Galileo’ Lokanath is known for very professional approach from the days of ‘Gejje Pooje’. His first appearance in national award winning cinema ‘Samskara’, Lokanath CH is basically an industrialist.

Kakana Kote, Bangarada Manushya, Minchina Ota, Hosa Neeru, Badada Hoovu, Masanada Hoovu, Sipaayi, Boothayyana Maga, Nagara Havu, Pushpaka Vimana, Kaada Beladingalu, Bheema Thiradalli , Kakanakote, Gejje Pooje, Badadha Hoovu, Masanadha Hoovu, Sipayi, state award for Minchina Ota, Nataka Academy award winner too.

Veterans of the Kannada cinema industry Dwarakish, Dr Bharathi Vishnuvardhana, Raghavendr Rajakumar, Jaggesh, Rajesh, Nagathihalli Chandrasekhar, T S Nagabharana, BS Lingadevaru, KM Chaitanya, Ramesh Pandit, JG Krishna, Nagaraj Kote and others paid last respect.
