VETERAN ACTRESS SHANTHAMMA PASSED AWAY

The most prominent personality in the family of Dr Rajakumar for decades, actress of nearly 450 films Shanthamma husband of Anil Kumar (drama artist) passed away at the age of 95 years in Mysuru on Sunday night.

Shanthamma was closest in family of Dr Rajakumar and she was seen till the passing away of Dr Parvathamma Rajakumar in the family functions. Shanthamma's son was a car driver to Dr Rajakumar in those days.

It is not just Kannada in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi and other languages Shanthamma had her stint. She succumbed to age old problems and left behind lot of memories.

Shanthamma suffered from memory loss and she was not recognizing anyone. In Mysore it was difficult to get the bed because of this Corona season. Shanthamma was tested for Corona and after the results the cremation would take place, says family sources.  

Shanthamma made debut in Dr Rajakumar film ‘Ohileshwara’ in 1956 and went on to act in films like Hari Bhaktha, Mahishasura Mardini, Ranadheera Kanteerava, Kaivara Mahatme, Rathna Manjari, Nandi, Chandavalliya Tota, Sandhya Raaga, Dudde Doddappa, sri Purandara Dasaru, 1967 Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna, Beedi Basavanna, Mannina Maga, Manasaakshi, Chinnari Puttanna, Bhagya Devathe, Bangalore Mail, Chikkamma, Mallammana Pavada, Amma, Sakshaatkaara, Sipayi Ramu, Sahadarmini,  Giri Kanye, Babruvahana, Sanadi Appanna, Vasatha Geetha, Muniyana Madhari, Keralida Simha and others are yesteryear films. Mussanje, Vaali, Avathara Purusha (1989), Love Madi Nodu, Hendthigelbedi, Krishna Rukmini, Aaseya Bale, Bedi, Anthima Thirpu, Digvijaya, Kendada Male and others are also to the credit of Shanthamma.
