The parallel arrangement to screen the state, national and internationally acclaimed Kannada films in the leadership of Dr Girish Kasaravalli with Chitra Samooha team ‘Chitravarsha’ the year long screening of quality films on Saturday and Sunday evening show with support from Suchitra Film Society, BDA and KMF has completed three months.

At the completion of quarter of ‘Chitravarsha’ it is in full zoom. The audience response, house full of shows and some pretty good discussions held after screening of films are not only factors keeping them in ‘Kushi’ but the movement is spreading to places like Dharwad where Chitra Film Society has come forward on a monthly basis of screening the films screened by Chitravarsha.

The idea of expanding the movement to different places in Bangalore to avoid the travel difficulty from different parts of Bangalore to Suchitra Film Society in Banashankeri II stage is also given a thought by Dr Girish Kasaravalli and battalion.

It is in the pattern of neighborhood cinema screening concept what Girishji had seen in 1978 at Karnagi Hall. Added to it whenever films are screened in Suchitra Film Society the response has been tremendous made to make use of the advantage. We are planning for Badavane Cinema and inquiries are coming from Mangalore for such concept. From MS Sathyu to Master Kishan all directors films are screened that lead to knowing the inside and outside layers better. The experimental, contemporary and relevant subject’s cinemas are screened in the coming quarter where two woman directors Kavitha Lankesh and Roopa Iyer films are part of the 13 films informed Dr Girish. One and half hour film ‘Ijjodu’ of MS Sathyu discussed for one and half an hour is a another feat of this ‘Chitravarsha’ pointed Dr Girish.

The head of the Suchitra Film Society a remarkable critic Manu Chakravarthi said the elitism charge has been wiped off with this kind of movement. The relevance and need of such movement is found at this stage. The viewing of films and later discussing on it is helpful to the cultural activity growth says Manu Chakravarthy.

Director of repute Seshadri the series of award winner for his films stated the hapless situation of giving Rs.42000 rent to get back his print of ‘Vimukthi’ from the theatre that earned Rs.8000 from one show.
