CHANDULAL JAIN DEPARTS

The humble producer of over 35 Kannada films Chandulal Jain breathed his last today morning at 9.45 am. He was 74. He leaves behind his wife Leela, sons Rajakumar and Rohit. The old horse in the Kannada filmdom Chandulal Jain produced films like Thaayi Devaru, Boothaiahna Maga Ayyu, Thabbaliyu Niaadhe Magane, Hemavathi, Praya Praya Praya, Bettele Seve, Idhu Sadhya in 48 hours, Bhaktha Siriyala, Veerappan, Gangavva Gangamaayi and on last January 21 when entered 74 announced a Kannada film ‘Videshi’.

He was closely associated with Dr.Raj, Varadappa, Smt.Parvathamma, D.V.Sudheendra who helped him at the right time. I was given call sheet by Dr.Raj when I spoke to him in Kannada remembered Jain on last January. How can I forget those days told Jain sitting with his wife Leela who is living with Jain from last 50 years!

When Chandulal Jain’s ‘Veerappan’ Kannada film bagged the first best film at the State awards in the committee headed former editor late Y.N.Krishnamurthy a lot of eye brows were raised and it became a controversial issue in the media. Chandulal Jain was honored on the golden jubilee of the Kannada film industry and also at Suvarana Mahotsava. He was the winner of Life Time Achievement award from Karnataka state government in 2004-2005.

It is a black Thursday for Kannada film as another film industry personnel actor Circus Boranna also died in the morning.
