Another woman director has taken birth in Sandalwood. That is intelligent and vibrant Roopa Rao. With rich experience in web series, winning accolades Roopa Rao takes on the 90’s tale. The infatuation age from the point of view of a girl in 90’s is focused in this film.

The film is ‘Gantumoote’ (Bag Age) set in the 90’s backdrop. Teju Belawadi, daughter of renowned actor and director Prakash Belawadi – the third generation from Make Up Nani and Bhargavi Narayan makes debut in this feature film. Nischit Korodi student of Tent Cinema is making foray in to films as hero.

Roopa Rao of web series like The other Love Story’, winner of ‘VArshada Mahile’ from Out Look magazine has left her job in Infosys as IT professional and made a leap in to this profession with complete passion. A resident of Bengaluru, cinema is like prayer for her. She has directed quite a few short films before heading the megaphone for big screen. On cinema making she studied in New Delhi, worked in London. Now ‘Gantumoote’ is her dream project that has already got selected for New York Indian Film Festival ad received Best Screenplay award. It is picked as official selection for Ottawa Indian Film Festival.

On the particular kissing scene shown in the trailer, Roopa Rao was in quick reaction. She said we have crossed so many levels at this ‘Internet Yuga’. There is no need to mistake for the ‘Kiss’ she mentioned.

Teju Belawad was apprehensive in the beginning because she was worried about her father reaction. She got the final nod after a few hours from Prakash Belawadi. Teju was free with her mother as she is very broad minded. On the script part Teju informed that it was so immaculate for her. It was as if written for her moods and moments of the past. It is a high quality director that I got to work she complimented Roopa Rao.

Roopa Rao has made debut as director as well as producer with Sahadev Kelavadi forming a crowd funding cinema in Ameyukthi Studios, Bengaluru.

Bhargav Raju, Soorya Vasishta, Sharat Gowda, Sri Ranga, Ram Manjunath, Archana Shyam, Anusri, Kashyap, Chandana, Namith are also in the cast.

Such a knowledgeable director Roopa Rao missed out the technical credits in her two sheet press note given to media persons.
