We have read and known about 7 year itch. Now we have 7 directors waiting for ‘Mechchuge’ via ‘Katha Sangama’ Kannada cinema – a title of doyen director SR Putanna Kanagal.

The beauty and new attempt of this ‘Katha Sangama’ is that seven directors, seven cameramen, 7 stories and seven musicians are at work. This is also a factory that has produced nearly 40 plus technicians. Top of all directors is Rishab Shetty.

Coming before the media for the first time after completion of the film the 50 plus technicians lead by 7 directors were introduced with a few of the artists at Renukamba Digital Theatre.

Every director has space of 20 minutes to narrate his story. The duration of the film is two and half hours. The prominence is given to all areas of Karnataka. Pradeep NR and H K Prakash are producers of this film.

The seven directors with 20 minutes duration are Kiran Raj, Shashikumar, Chandrajith Belliyappa, Rahul, Jai Shanker, Karan, Anant Jamadagni and ring master for all ring masters is Rishab Shetty.

In the portion of director Kiran Raj – Rishab Shetty and Haripriya are prominent actors with a street dog Rumi. In another part of the film director Jai Shanker roped in an ordinary person from Hubballi to get realism to the role. That is Paravva.

Apparently for charming actress Haripriya this is the 7th release of the year 2019. This is a great coincidence. She does not have dialogues in her role yet she did dubbing for the film.

Talented actor and international award winner for his ‘Bhak’ web series Balaji Manohar says this attempt was well deserved in the Kannada filmdom. Long overdue he feels.

Raj B Shetty has assisted a few, corrected script and also appeared in a portion. The point of this film giving over 40 technicians is a notable aspect he says. The newcomers should come and grow he observes.
