The historical Kagodu agrarian movement of 1951 is the base for 'Kolaga' Kannada film that went on the floors at RR Nagara Nimishamba Temple. Farmer's leader Kodihalli Chandrasekhar and Justice Mahadevaiah were present at this Prasanna Gurlekere direction and production film muhurth.

Apparently the film based on renowned novelist Na D'Souza novel 'Kolaga' is the first raitha chaluvali in Karnataka in 1951 that is known as 'Kagodu Raitha Chaluvali'. The 1974 Land Reformation Act is also part of this film, says Prasanna.

'Kolaga' means measurement that was made for paddy counting. The difference at this counting, the disparity shown, and the atrocity on the land owners are prominent in this film. Prasanna is also a member of the family that was involved in this Kagodu movement. He is basically a theatre artist.

Prasanna is narrating the film in two parts. The first part is on the Chaluvali and its aftermath in the second half. The emphasis of this film is to get awareness for the present generation in the past. Such movements should be recorded in this kind of mass media, says Prasanna.

Adhi Lokesh and Nishita Gowda are in lead roles. Theatre actors are part of this film. From January 22 the shoot commenced at Sagara surroundings, Rajguru is scoring music, the film is produced in Athra Film banner.

Senior directors Kodlu Ramakrishna, S Narayan and others were present to bless the 'Kolaga' team.
