Karnataka Cinematographers’ Association, Bangalore, felicitated Padmashri Girish Kasaravalli, noted film maker of Karnataka, to honor him for him got conferred one of the Countgry’s highest civil award “PADMASHREE”, on 11th Sept, 2011.

The Association lauded Girish Kasaravalli’s works of his films which etched a identity in ;the world of cinema for itself and he himself getting plenty of National Awards including Four Golden Lotus awards, and many Awards from the State,  both for himself and also for his team in one or the other manner.

In his address to the Cinematographers he spoke about the relationship between a Director and a Cinematographer which is the most intricate relationship and without such relationship a film cannot be made well. Because the cinematographer is the only person who will be actually visualizing the shot through the Camera while the Director will be seeing the action outside the camera and what exactly happens within the frame is only the Cameraman has to say whether the intended action as per ;the discussion has been captured or not.  It is like the REEL HUSBAND-WIFE RELATIONSHIP he maintained.

The Association praised him for selecting all his stories from the rich Kannada Literary field as also he has selected his Cameramen from Kannada Industry which is a real highlight of Girish’s film making.

While a short film made by Dept of Information on Girish was shown to Members as an introduction to the legendary person, KCA president J G Krishna presented a Memento, while Vice President B S Basavaraj decorated him with a Shawl and the whole programme was conducted by Secretary/Treasurer V Chandrashekar.
