Posted date: 6/July/2009

A prominent youngster of BJP occupying the seat of Chairman of Kanteerava studios has made a few rounds of discussions and came before the film media on Saturday evening to announce Rs.5 crore investment initially on the three floors that are coming up after the big wigs like founder of Kanteerava studios Karibasavaiah, the theatre icon Gubbi Veeranna and Dadasaheb Phalke icon of Kannada cinema Dr.Rajakumar. Rs.5 crore would be acquired from Canara Bank Loan and there will be public-private participation as for as the setting up of mini theatres in the district levels.

The three floors of 80x120 dimensions in addition have spruced up court, police station, garden, houses in the Kanteerava studios premises. After 9 years the space of Prasad Laboratory would also be made use says the four years term chairman Girish Mattannavar. On the other side of Kanteerava studios the work of Dr.Rajakumar Memorial is going on smoothly as already Rs.2.75 crores have been released.

The address of Girish Mattannavar was as sweet as Bella (he is doing Bella business in his home town Dharwad) on Saturday evening. He was well prepared to explain the past, present and future of Kanteerava studios.

What was started by late Karibasavaiah in 1966 Kanteerava studios earned profit in the regime of Mr Vishukumar and now it is given additional one acre land after it lost its space for the ring road purposes.

The current floors will be maintained and some additional support will be extended to it. Further the coming up of three floors would solve some of the need of the Kannada cinema industry feels Mattannavar. A mini theatre in district levels is also in the mind of Mattannavar. The setting up of Graphic Unit on par with the international standards would take place in my regime he says.

To update on the state of affairs of studios first Girish Mattannavar, SV Rajendra Singh Babu and MD of Kanteerava studios Shivaram are visiting Yash Chopra studio in Mumbai because in a limited space it is built very well. What work I take up should be a model to the future generation that would work here says Mattannavar.

Mattannavar feels unhappy for not proper use of Film City land of 302 acres at Hesaraghatta. Something has to be done immediately to the film city he says as already 37 years of the 99 years lease period is over.
