One of the highly talked about novel of Gnanapith award winner Dr Shivarama Karanth ‘Mookajjiya Kanasugalu’ – the one that bagged Gnanapith award and completing 50 years is now on silver screen. The magic of transforming the illusions of Mookajji is taken by 8 time’s national award winning director P Seshadri.

In the days of lack of proper theater facility P Seshadri has thought of contacting 2000 colleges via Collegiate Education board. After reading this novel when he was school going boy P Seshadri had written a letter to Dr Shivarama Karanth in a post card. For that P Seshadri got a clarification in an inland letter.

It has been long journey for P Seshadri with this film. Finally the film is releasing on 29^th of this month. When the literary field is not celebrating 50 years of Shivarama Karanth novel, we in visual media are celebrating is the happiness of P Seshadri.

The premiere of this film is taking place on Thursday at Dr Raj Bhavan, Kalavidhara Bhavana.  For P Seshadri the ‘Ajji’ in his mind when he decided to make a film was only one that is Padmasri Dr B Jayasri. Like how Pather Pancheli ‘Ajji’ is seen, we have B Jayasri says P Seshadri with lot of pride at the moment.

Padmasri B Jayasri in fact wanted to bring it on stage. She had inquired Dr Shivarama Karanth and got approval to make a script for stage adaptation. Jayasri knew that it is ‘Kabbinada Kadale’ to bring on stage. The script was ready but Dr Shivarama Karanath was not alive. At that point it was stopped she said. On stage it was BV Rajaram brought it long ago.

Subraya role Aravind Kuplikar, Rameshwari Verma, Siddarth, Nandini, Editor B S Kemparaj were also present at the pre release meet of ‘Mookajjiya Kanasugalu’.
