SINDHOORA LAKSHMANA FAMILY IS NEGLECTED

The warrior from the remote village of Karnataka Sindhoora Lakshmana a nightmare to British rule in India between 1898 to 1928 family is neglected today says Kannada film director Pallakki Radhakrishna who has taken up a film on the soldier in the coming months.

Tracing the grandson Lakshmana Naika (who died in 2006 December) family of four member’s director Pallakki invited them to the muhurut of his film ‘Devanahalli’ on Friday and introduced them to the ministers who were present. The great grand children of Veera Sindhoora Lakshmana studying in PUC, 8th and 5th standard are not properly taken care alleges Pallakki. There is a school, bank in the name of Veera Sindhoora Lakshmana but no care is given to the family members who are living in Sindhoora in a parched house.

From the profits I am going to earn from ‘Devanahalli’ I will take up the film on Sindhoora Lakshmana. Today the place Sindhoora comes under Sangli district of Maharashtra.

In 1977 the Kannada film ‘Veera Sindhoora Lakshmana’ was made by Sri Sangameshwara Productions. H.Krishnamurthy directed this film. Manjula, N.Basavaraj, Leelavathi, Ashwath, Sudhir, Vajramuni were in the cast.
