RAJ AWARD FOR SRINIVASAMURTHY    Raganna, Meghana Raj best actors

The prestigious Dr Rajakumar award is declared for veteran actor ‘Bhojaraja’ fame in Kavirathna Kalidasa film of Dr Rajakumar – JK Srinivasamurthy, while Puttanna Kanagal award goes to P Seshadri (he supersede a few in his fraternity) and Dr Vishnuvardhana award for lifetime achievement award is crowned on veteran cameraman B S Basavaraju – it is Rs.5 lakhs, 50 grams gold and citation for all the three achievers.

Among other awards declared for 2018 films – Raghavendra Rajakumar is best actor in his comeback film ‘Ammana Mane’ a poignant story of son and mother. Meghana Raj an ultra modern girl in ‘Iruvudellava Bittu’ gets the best actress award.

Aa Karala Rathri of Dayal Padmanabhan is the first best film and the film won a few more awards in other categories. The film ‘Ramana Savari’  of Shivarudraiah is second best and Sathya Prakash ‘Ondalla Eradu’ gets the third best film award for 2018.

The most popular film is ‘Sarkari Hiriya Prathamika Shale..Kasargodu’. The top grosser and that made sound in the national and international arena KGF was almost sidelined by the committee headed by Joe Simon veteran director.

The social concern film is ‘Santhakavi Kanakadasara Ramadhanya’, best children film is ‘Hoovu Balli, first time director award goes to Belakina Kannadi, regional best is Deyi Baidethi (tulu).

Balaji Manohar best supporting actor for Churi Katte, Veena Sunder gets supporting actress for Aa Karala Rathri, best story is Harish S for Naigere, screenplay award to P Seshadri for Mookajjiya Kanasugalu, dialogues for Shirisha Joshi for Savithribhai Pule, cameraman of Ammachchiyemba Nenapu Naveen Kumar, best music for Ravi Basrur and best art director for Shivakumar of KGF, best child actor Master Aryan for Ramana Savari and Baby Sinchana for Andavada is best child actress.

Best editor is Suresh Armugam for ‘Trataka’, best lyrics award goes to Prof Baraguru Ramachandrappa ‘Bayalatada Bheemanna, best playback singer is Siddarth B for Ramadhanya, female singer is Kalavathi Dayanand for Baidaithi…best Jury award goes to Anantharayappa H for ‘Samanatheya Kadege and best production manager award goes to V Thomas of ‘Abbe Tumakuru Siddapurusha Vishwaraadhyaru’.

The state awards announced by Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa intends to hold the awards function for 2018 on Dr Rajakumar birth anniversary April 24.

Veteran director Joe Simon team watched 162 Kannada films in the contest and veteran producer Basanth Kumar Patil team selected three prominent awards of Dr Raj, Puttanna and Dr Vishnuvardhana award for lifetime achievement.
