What a fantastic film in production values. It is a fabulous treat to watch this ‘Munirathna Kurukshetra’ in 3 D technology. The magnum opus -50^th film of challenging star Darshan is good in many parts.

The film story is well known in South Indian cinema. The BR Chopra ‘Mahabharata’ TV Serial has given in detail but this film is from the point of view of ‘Duryodhana’.

The grandeur is there in every character selected, the opulent sets, superb music, terrific in cinematography, costumes, well written dialogues etc are major trump cards of this film.

The film ‘Munirathna Kurukshetra’ starts with Pandava and Kaurava in the court and Bhishma declaring the power display. At this the entry of Karna makes it interesting. Duryodhana take Karna to his side for his valiance, power truthfulness and humbleness. At this point the birth of Duryodhana itself is questioned by Bheema leads to various complications.

As a matter of fact Duryodhana sets the fall of his regime giving scope for Shakuni. Then follows the Draupadi Vasthrapaharana, Lord Krishna coming on the scene, sending Pandavas to 13 years to vanavaas, Sri Krishna asking for return of kingdom and that finally makes way for Kurukshetra war.

After the Duryodhana and Bheema ‘Gadayudda’ the end of Duryodhana and going to Swarga to meet his best friend Karna – the curtains are down in the cinema halls.

It is a spectacular performance from Darshan as Duryodhana – dialogues, looks, costume add extra value to his role, next to conquer hearts are Arjun Sarja as Karna, Dr Ambarish as Bhishma, Srinivasamurthy as Dronacharya, Ravishanker as Shakuni, Sneha as Draupadi. There is not much of scope for others and even the selection of Sri Krishna is quite OK. For Meghana Raj as Bhanumathi and Haripriya as Maaye – there is only one song each.

V Harikrishna is another trump card of this film. He gives four lovely tunes besides background score, the technical excellence is hall mark of this film, Cinematographer Ajayan Vincent is top class. Every shot is brilliant on screen.

This Munirathna Kurukshetra is an example for future generation to make mythological films, This is the film that youths should watch to know about ancient epics of India.

This is a film you cannot miss. Go with your family.
