Vani Saraswathi Naidu, the 72-year-old theatre personality from Hubli has made her Sandalwood debut. She has written and sung a song for the new Kannada film 'Black.' The lyrics for the song, 'Ladabada Huduga Neenu, Galibili Aagabeda Hudugira More Nodi,' was written by her in just 10 minutes according to producer-director and actor of the film Mahendra. He says that Vani Saraswathi's voice resembles another theatre personality B Jayashree's. Saraswathi's Hubli accent also turned the the tide in her favour. Last month Vani Saraswathi was one of the 90 persons awarded with the Rajyothsava Prasasthi by the State Government.
Another surprise in the film is producer and proprietor of Balaji Digital Studio Karisubbu singing the theme song. 'Yada Yada Hi Darmasya,' taken from the IV chapter of Srimad Bhagawat Geeta is used as the theme song for the film and Karisubbu along with chorus has sung it. The music director of Black is C R Bobby, who happens to be the granddaughter of Vani Saraswathi. This is her first film as also that of Mahendra. Most of the film's crew are new except for Kishore, who appears in a special role.
