Director Venshi Ravindra has selected a good subject to make this movie. The movie has the much-needed message to children as well as parents, especially those from economically weaker families. The movie also highlights how one can achieve the target irrespective of his/her financial condition or social status provided perseverance and dedication. The movie also makes it clear that martial arts should not be misused to attack or injure people. The director has succeeded in conveying this message aptly.
The movie is about a migrated couple – Karayya (Santosh Savanagere) and Ningavva (Pallavi Rao) – who have a daughter Ruthu (Ruthu Sparsha). The couple, with the help of a teacher, succeeds in joining their daughter Ruthu into a private school. She, being from a rural area, finds it tough to adapt herself with her classmates and also fails to score good marks. An unfortunate incident compels headmistress Radha (Rekha Kudligi) to ask Ruthu not to come to school. She comes to know that Ruthu is good at Taekwondo and allows her to participate in the competition. What happens to Ruthu is what Taekwondo Girl is all about.
Ruthu Sparsha looks cute and innocent throughout the movie. Her dialogue delivery and gestures, especially in the scene where her parents quarrel with each other, deserve appreciation. Sumitha Pravin, who bankrolled the movie, played the teacher. Rekha Kudligi, who played the headmistress, is convincing. Pallavi Rao, as a hapless mother, has acted well.
It is worth watching for family members.
