Kantara, directed by Rishab Shetty will be releasing worldwide on September 30. Though it is a big-budget action film from Hombale Films, the makers of the KGF series, the film will be released in theatres only in Kannada. In an interaction with the media, the director-actor said that the film is rooted in local culture and it would be best experienced in the native language. World over, people are enjoying films in their native langauges which tell a universally appealing story. So, Kantara, which is a native Kannada story needs to be shown to the world in Kannada.
After the release of the trailer two weeks ago, many people are of the opinion that the film of such a scale should have been dubbed in other languages. But Rishab is firm that he want to show the film in Kannada. The film will however be dubbed in other languages for its OTT release later. In theatres it will be Kannada alone. The film is being promoted extensively overseas. It is simultaneously releasing in multiple countries including in North America, Europe and Australia-New Zealand.
The film explores the man-nature conflict shown through the conflict between two important characters. The film has cinematography by Aravind Kashyap and music by Ajaneesh Loknath. Native traditions like Bhoota Kol and Kambala are presented in the film.
Apart from Rishab Shetty, the film stars Kishore, Sapthami Gowda, Pramod Shetty, Achyuth Kumar and others.
