From 1st March to 3rd March the wonderful ‘Amrutha Mahotsava’ of Kannada cinema is taking place and on 8th of March 2009 at Shimoga the home town of Karnataka chief minister B.S.Yediyurappa the Karnataka state film awards for 2007-2008 will be held in a grand style.
The Karnataka state film awards of 2007-2008 is memorable because the mother and son – Smt.Parvathamma Rajakumar and Puneeth Rajakumar receives the Life Time Achievement award and best actor award for ‘Milana’ respectively on one stage. The lighting up moment will be further important because Dr.Rajakumar award will be bestowed on Dr.Vishnuvardhana in a glittering function.
The concerned chief minister’s home town picked for state film awards is common. Last time when Kumaraswamy was chief minister he held the awards evening at Ramanagar and previous to this former chief Minister Bangarappa regime also held the state awards in Shimoga.
Last state film award was held in Bangalore Central College on 30th August 2007. It was a coalition government Kumaraswamy and Yediyurappa jointly handed over the awards. This time as an independent chief minister of Bharatiya Janata Party B.S.Yediyurappa will be presenting the awards.
