The selection of 179 films in which 20 are Kannada films that will be screened at the 4th Bengaluru International Film Festival was released at Vartha Bhavan conference hall by Principal Secretary Mr Basavaraj in the presence of Creative Director of 4th BIFFE HN Narahari Rao, Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy Chairman TS Nagabharana and Information Director Muddu Mohan.
The guest of honor for this festival will be Hindi film actor and director Om Puri and Kannada versatile actor Ananthnag. K Balachander is indisposed and he is not attending the event.
Om Puri is familiar to Kannada cinema too. He made his first presence in ‘Dhruva’ with challenging star Darshan. He will be honored on this occasion and Irish Darish Mehruju from the international platform will be guest honor.
‘Lucky’ (not Ramya and Yash acted Radika Kumaraswamy produced film) South African Zulu language film that has Kannada actress and theatre personality the present RS member B Jayasri will be the inaugural film.
HN Narahari Rao explained the political cinemas and Nostalgia cinema. The first premier from Kannada language will be Rasarushi Kuvempu and Tulu film ‘Gaggara’ is another film that will be screened.
There would be tribute to Dev Anand who passed away on last Saturday night and S Ramachandra of Karnataka at the weeklong film festival starting from 15th of December to 22nd of December.
