VETERAN K V GUPTA PASSES AWAY

Undoubtedly the ‘Financial Expert’ of Kannada cinema industry who knew the in and out of business of films K V Gupta an old horse passed away on Monday – 24th of January, 2022. He produced, distributed and exhibited films in his long career with authority. He was highly respected for his in-depth knowledge.

Aged 86 KV Gupta represented the distribution sector born on February 11, 1935. His father K Venkata Subba Shetty was a famous lawyer owned Shantha Pictures distribution office. Gupta, a graduate in BSC (Textiles) joined Vijaya Talkies Distributors and gained experience. In 1958 with Nagi Reddy Vijaya Pictures distributed several films.

KV Gupta was associated with the production of the 1960 unforgettable film ‘Sathya Harischandra’ and in later days invested in films like Madhuve Madi Nodu and Nanna Thamma. In Nandini Productions he made ‘Beegara Pandhya’.

Starting Guru Jyothi Combines in 1977, he had given a new dimension to the distribution sector. He chaired the KFCC President post, and represented the President of South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce. Of course he was in the Karnataka state film awards committee a few times.

KV Guptha ‘Belli Hejje’ was held in 2012 by Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy. Recently he was affected by the Corona Pandemic and admitted to hospital.
