Dollu movie is about dollu kunitha, a traditional dance form known across the state. The movie Dollu bags two national awards recently. Dollu is the first movie for Sagar Puranik, the son of former Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy Sunil Puranik, as a director. Pawan Wadeyar is one of the producers for this movie.

Director Sagar Puranik has selected the right subject to make a debut as a director in Sandalwood. He aptly narrated that youths in rural areas are not interested to be part of dollu kunitha troupe as it is no longer a lucrative profession when compared to various jobs available in Bengaluru. He also emphasized the need of breaking traditional customs and barriers to make dollu kunitha accessible to all, including women.

The movie begins with a grand-mother narrating the story of dollu to a few children. Later the director introduces us to a village where dollu kunitha is not only famous but also a tradition. The director narrates how a youth struggles to preserve the traditional dance form at his village.

All the artistes have tried their best to make this movie worth watching.
