One of the prolific singers of Kannada Nadu, national award winner for playback singing Kada Kudure Odi Bandiththa… for ‘Kakana Kote’ Kannada film SHIVAMOGGA SUBBANNA passes away at the age of 83.

Shivamogga Subbanna is one of the chain`s strong pillars of light music in Karnataka and was the first one to get a national award for singing. After that Dr Rajakumar got the national award for singing in Jeevana Chaitra, of course SPB for Umandu Gumandu song in ‘Ganayogi Panchakshara Gavai’.

Shivamogga Subbanna died of a heart attack on Thursday night and he lives with his lovely songs forever. He was on a ventilator for a few days but the last call came for the gentleman around 11 pm on Thursday night.

Born to Ganesh Rao and Ranganayakamma on 14th December 1938, good training from his grandfather in music Shivamogga Subbanna studied BA, B.com and later Law. He got the national award (Rajat Kamal) in 1970`s for Kadu Kudure Odibandiththa…of Kakana Kote film and first Kannadiga to get the award.

Shivamogga Subbanna is G Subramanya according to the records and has obtained the name of Shivamogga Subbanna legally.

The first entry of Shivamogga Subbanna was via Karimayi of Jnanapith award winner Dr Chandrasekhara Kambara. Besides a lot of light music songs, Santa Shishunala Sharief songs got him more recognition. Anandamaya  Yee Jaga Hrudaya…..is the most impeccable rendering from SS.

Shivamogga Subbanna is also winner of state award, Rajyotsava award, Sangeetha Academy award with a few more accolades.

In the audio albums of Kuvempu Geethegalu, Geetha Ganga, Deepika, Kavi Shaila, Baro Vasantha, Agni Hamsa, Nama Smarane, Upasanaa, Deva Ninna Beduvu….and others the magnificent voice of Subbanna is available.
