RNJ AWARDS - SANTRUPTHI SAMARABHA!

The pride of Kannada cinema Sahitya, gentleman and respected late R.N.Jayagopal awards presentation evening was memorable for the right selection of award winners, speeches, attendance and for the rendering of songs of RNJ on last Saturday at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall.

The veteran CV Shivashanker, the current popular music director V Harikrishna and lyricist Kaviraj received the first year RNJ awards for a thunderous applause. Rs.15000 cash prize, trophy, shawl, garland and fruit basket were presented by bigwigs of the cinema industry to the winners. Smt Lalitha Jayagopal was present at all the three wards presentation on stage.

Remembering her husband RNJ Smt.Lalitha said he was devoted to the field of art. The generous help he made to hospitals, opening a school in Chennai, IPRS work and starting Sri Ramayana all came up in the speech of Smt.Lalitha.

‘Yee Puraskarakke Thiraskara Beda’ said Hamsalekha after giving award to Kaviraj. The FM station awards do not come to your help only this kind of prestigious award in the name of veteran cheer up to do something novel pointed Hamsalekha. The great music director of Kannada cinema Hamsalekha remembered how RNJ played a crucial role when he was at Sanketh studio recording for the song much against to the wishes of V Ravichandran for Mr Raja Kannada film. RNJ came at 7.30 in the morning and hearing the tune he said ‘Preethiyalli Iro Sukha gotte Irlilla, Hoo Anthiya Uhoo anthiya’ – I don’t say anything but accept this song sir said Hamsa to RNJ and later it was Chinni Prakash who recommended that the song is wonderful and going to be a hit made temperament of V Ravichandran melt down. ‘Badhuku and Sahitya changes ‘Stithi and Gathi’ felt Hamsalekha!

Today’s writers should study the history of Karnataka and its beauty to write the lyrics felt eminent writer CV Shivashanker. Kaviraj in his address said this award is ‘Olavina Udugore, Janumadha Udugore’. He felt proud for receiving this award in the presence of his mother.

Dr Jayamala the KFCC President who presented one of the awards on that evening felt happy immensely because for her first film the song Shobane Shobane….it was RNJ who wrote the song.

The RNJ awards in place of RNR awards – the committee members VN Subba Rao and NS Sridhar Murthy also spoke on this occasion.

The memorable evening with the songs of RNJ was made available by Ramya Cultural Academy headed by Bali.
