With high sadness, we bring to your notice that Ajathashatru SHIVARAMANNA is in critical condition. He fell down from the staircase at his house and his head was injured.

Shivaramanna the pillar of Kannada filmdom is now in ventilator at Prashanth Nursing Home (near Seetha Circle) in ICU. Doctors are not in a position to operate his head because of Shivaramanna 84 years age. All other parts of the body of Shivaramanna are quite OK.

Veteran actors of Kannada filmdom Srinivasamurthy Srinath and Ramesh Bhat visited the hospital on Thursday morning. We should all pray for Shivaramanna`s good health. The divine personality who visited Lord Ayyappa temple several times should get the blessings of Lord Ayyappa opines Srinivasamurthy in a choked voice.

Shivaramanna house situated in Banashankeri locality and his wife died four years ago. His two sons in laws died in the first and second Corona Pandemic time. Shivaramanna two daughters and two sons are taking all precautions but destiny pulled him to this situation today.

Shivaramanna is `Guru Swamy`of the Lord Ayyappa seasons for several years. He had traveled to various Ayyappa temples in Karnataka.

Popularly known as S Shivaram born in 1938 January 28 in Chooda Sandra village in Bengaluru studied B.Com and at this time he was involved in theatre.

Shivaram made his appearance as second hero in Berata Jeeva in 1964 and so far acted in over 400 plus films. Lagna Patrike, Mukthi, Sharapanjara, Shubhamangala, Naagarahavu, Devara Gudi, Bhagyajyothi, Shravana Banthu, Guru Shishyaru, Sipayi Ramu, Hombisilu, Thaayi Saheba, Aptha Mithra, Sajani and hundreds of TV serials he acted and proved his talent.

S Shivaram brother S Ramanathan jointly started the RASHI brothers banner and produced films like Gejje Pooje, Upasane, Nanobba Kalla, Driver Hanumantha films.

In Driver Hanumantha Shivaram turned independent hero. For Thayi Saheba character role he got supporting actor award from the state government, Karnataka Nataka Academy, Rajyotsava awards followed by this soft and knowledgeable Shivaramanna.

Shivaramanna, also into social service, stood behind the people in grief. Once he said I visited Banashankari Crematorium 45 times and witnessed the final rites of people known to me.

SHIVARAMANNA is described as the historian of Kannada cinema. Actor Srinath fondly refers to him as a one-man university. He has acted in more than 400 films in his four and half decade career and is a multifaceted personality, having varied interests and abilities. Popularly called Ajatashatru because of his amiable nature, he is present at every occasion relating to cinema, either good or bad, on or off screen.

He is none other than veteran film actor, director, producer S. Shivaram. Even today, he is legendary for discipline and perfectionism, and is a role model for the young generation of film professionals.

Theatre background

Like many veteran artistes in the industry, Shivaram is also a product of professional theatre, having acted in more than 1,000 plays.

Movie buffs will fondly recall his role of the Bhatta (cook), `Sharapanjara` Iyengari in Nagarahavu. His performances in Shubhamangala, Upasane and Gejjepuje, alldirected by Puttanna Kanagal, are unforgettable. He also acted in the lead role for Driver Hanumanthu and co-producer for the films of his brother, S. Ramanathan.

Driver Hanumanthu bombed, bringing Shivaram to be brink of ruin, scuttling his plan to produce S.L. Bhyrappa`s Doora Saridaru.

Inspiration for role

He has many memories of Sharapanjara, which catapulted Puttanna Kanagal into stardom. For Bhatta`s role, the cook in the Akashavani canteen was his inspiration. The film ventured into new territory as it was made without written dialogues.

He is founder secretary of Cine Artistes  Association and has been a guiding force for many newcomers and a support to many more in times of distress.

In his younger days, he worked for the welfare of supporting artistes, collected funds for their welfare. He believes that the industry will not grow without its own infrastructure.

It speaks of his generous spirit that he has introduced many artists to the field.
