`SHARADHE WANTS A MALE BABY` ? WHO CAN HELP HER!
Posted date: 13/August/2009

The press release issued by Zee Kannada has a headline ‘Nammamma Sharadhegondhu Gandu Magu Bekagidhe’ – after reading this a journalist before the media meet murmured ‘I cannot do anything’. There are two ‘Sharadhe’ in this ‘Nammamma Sharadhe’ television serial - one is urban bred and the other one a village muff. The serial is on air from 17th of August from Monday to Friday at 8 pm.

Journalist turned visual media ZEE Kannada program head Paramesh Gundkal recalled the reading of the book of Ms Geetha ‘Disappearing Daughters’ and took note from it for his own story and screenplay. He later found Ramesh Indira as the right choice to direct and invited him to independently direct this television serial.

The urge for the male child is the age old ‘Samasye’ of Indian society. The superstitious and scientific methods are touched in this and the scanning done for identifying the gender is punished in the television serial. The entertainment, message and caution is served in this says Parameshwar.

Ramesh Indira in his first independent television serial ‘Nammamma Sharadhe’ has also read the book ‘Disappearing Daughters’ and likes the professional approach of Zee Kannada. The city bred Sharadhe Shruthi Naidu is of the opinion that the role is well done for her nature. Hema Bellur plays the village muff Sharadhe.

Padma Kumuta, Harish, Rajesh Bagna, Aruna Balaraj, Anil Kumar, Harikrishna, Venkat Rao, Madhu SAgar, Saniya and others are in the cast. BR Lakshman Rao has penned the title song.

The famous song sung by Vidyabhushan the former pontiff – Nammamma Sharadhe Umamaheshwari….has no place in this television serial it seems.
