The long pending demand of the Kannada cinema industry and audio industry to introduce Anti Piracy Act in state has come to force from Wednesday – The state legislative assembly has approved it when the issue was placed by Law and Parliamentary and Urban Development minister S.Sureshkumar.

The former HD Kumaraswamy government made an attempt to introduce the Anti Goonda Act when the JDS and BJP coalition government was in Karnataka prior to last Assembly elections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party headed government of BS Yediyurappa the chief minister of the state is getting appreciation from the Kannada film industry and the audio industry for his most delectable decision.

According to this Act of Piracy any one who is selling a pirated CD would be booked without bail and imprisoned for a minimum of one year and Rs.2 lakh fine is imposed.

This has been long standing demand of the Kannada cinema industry. The government of Karnataka would get not less than Rs.250 to 300 crores to the coffers in the form of tax and each Kannada producer would get not less than Rs.50 lakh additional income from stopping of Piracy says Rockline Venkatesh the Vice President of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce. ‘Hagalu Darodege there biddidhe’! The police department that is already strong has to cooperate in this direction says Rock.

The leading audio industry of the Karnataka state that is in to films and non films holding more than 10000 titles Lahari Recording Company Thulsi Ram Naidu alias Velu is singing a song ‘Yarige Banthu Ellige Banthu Swatantrya, it has come today to the entire audio industry’ he is saying.

This is a big festival for all of us in the audio industry. Audio industry was demanding this implementation from last 25 years and this has happened today. I thank the BJP government, home minister VS Acharya, law minister Suresh Kumar especially says Velu.

The effect of Anti Piracy Act would be great on film and audio industry. Nearly 250 crores benefited via streamlining piracy and Government of Karnataka would get not less than 150 crores in the form taxes say Velu.

This has been a war of one lakh people against 10000 people who are doing piracy in the state. The film industry, audio industry, signers, musicians, lyricists, recording studios and thousands of directly and indirectly connected would benefit from this.

Velu specially thanks the media in this direction. It is only the media that stood by the industry and reported the piracy since a long time says Velu. The implementation of Piracy Act should be very quick and police should give support to this says Velu.
