Posted date: 25/April/2009

The ace Bharatanatyam exponent living in Bangalore Cox Town for the last 27 years – the ‘Shankarabharanam’ Abharana Smt.Manju Bhargavi makes her first presence in Kannada film ‘Hodi Magaa’.

The title of the film is quite misleading but not the film as a whole said the famous dancer and actress well recognized during the regime of former chief minister R.Gundu Rao. Keeping high hopes on ‘Hodi Maga’ where she plays mother to super star Shivarajakumar said this is a well made film packed with sentiments and power. This is a film for family and every family member has to watch she opined. We have blindly followed the leader the captain of the film Sathya and he has done a good job complimented the danseuse actress.

It was in those days of 1980’s Manju Bhargavi took up the ambitious project ‘Natyarani Shanthala’ based on the novel of KV Iyer in the direction of GV Iyer but it did not take off. ‘It is a curse subject’ says Manju Bhargavi speaking to media persons at Gold Finch Hotel on Friday afternoon.

I am more interested in Indian Classical Dance. I am busy in making a television serial on it for a private satellite channel. Other wise I am moving around with my favorite dance. I had one and half an hour dance program recently in Chennai. The director of ‘Shankarabharanam’ K.Vishwanath was at the dance program. He came to me and said he is interested in a film after a long time.

I believe dance should be taught in the traditional style and not by making programs on teaching via CD’s says Manju Bhargavi answering a question. In that case it is better not to learn she opines.
