SIIMA AWARDS IN BENGALURU

The South Indian International Movies Awards (SIIMA) 2022 celebration is taking place in Bengaluru with pomp and gaiety. This year`s awards evening is giving tribute to Power star Puneeth Rajakumar and honoring a few Kannada film personalities.

The 10th edition of the South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA), will be held in Bengaluru onSeptember 10 and 11 to honor the best movies released in 2021 calendar year. This is for the first-time ever that a multilingual film awards show is being organized in the tech Capital of the country.

On bringing SIIMA to Bengaluru, Mrs. Brinda Prasad, Chairperson, SIIMA, said,“There are two major reasons for SIIMA to be happening in Bengaluru. Firstly, we want to pay our tributes to Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar sir, who was a phenomenal support all these years. Secondly, Kannada movies have drawn the attention of the entire nation by delivering blockbusters and pan-Indian movies; we want to celebrate Kannada movies on the home turf.”

Launched in 2012, SIIMA will be completing 10 fabulous years of recognizing South Indian film talent by organizing shows in international destinations such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Doha, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. SIIMA has been the biggest draw for fans and audiences of south cinemas abroad as well as India.

Renowned actor Rana Daggubati said he was extremely delighted to be associated with SIIMA for 2022, “SIIMA brings together the entire south film fraternity and it is an amazing feeling to celebrate south cinemas.”

Popular actor Dhananjaya K A said he was delighted to welcome SIIMA to Bengaluru, “It is an honor for Bengaluru and Karnataka that SIIMA is being organized at the home of Sandalwood. We are eager to welcome our friends from other language film industries to our city. This is the true reflection and real celebration of south cinemas.”

Multilingual actors Shanvi Srivastava and Sreeleela said that they were thrilled to perform at SIIMA 2022 in front of the Bengaluru crowd. Stalwarts from Kannada, Telugu,Tamil and Malayalam are expected at the Bengaluru edition of SIIMA.

In Kannada, Roberrt directed by Tharun Sudhir staring Darshan is leading with 10 categories while Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana directed by Raj B Shetty starring Rishab Shetty with 8 Nominations is in the second position and Yuvaratnaa directed by Santhosh Ananddram starring Puneeth Rajkumar with 7 Nominations is in third position.

The winners are chosen by an online voting system.
