It may not be an exaggeration to say the Checkmate is one of the Best suspense thrillers released this year.

The movie Checkmate is about four youths Prathyek (Ranjan Hassan), Adi (Vijay Chendur), Satwik (Pradeep Poojary) and Suresh (Vijeth Gowda). They want to celebrate a break up party when their love proposals are rejected by their respective sweet hearts. They go to a bar to celebrate it but rowdy elements disturb them. Later they decide to take the help of their friend (a security guard) to find a suitable location. The security guard helps them to have a bungalow to celebrate the party. What happens to them at the bungalow is the climax.

When it comes to the performance of the actors, Ranjan Hassan has acted well. Vijay Chendur has provided good support. Pradeep Poojary, as a drunkard, provides comedy. Vijeth Gowda, Ninasam Ashwath and Sardar Sathya have acted well. Cockroach Sudhir makes a brief appearance.

Shashank Sheshgiri has provided an apt background score. It is worth watching for those who crave suspense thrillers.
